Unpredictable Drivers

Because of their lack of experience and risk-taking factor, teens tend to be irresponsible drivers.  Believe it or not, senior drivers can also be adventurous.  They want to have their last adventure before kicking the bucket, but sooner or later they realize their frail bodies can’t keep up with the James Bond mentality.  Car chasing is just out of the picture.  Everyone other than teens and seniors have accidents, too, but not as much as these two age groups.  Dial 1 800 411 PAIN after a vehicle collision in the state of Florida.

Vision and hearing eventually weaken with age.  It’s harder for older drivers with cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration to see.  Older vehicle operators often don’t hear horns and sirens approaching.  Seniors have other issues such as losing muscle strength and flexibility, which can make it harder to steer.  Mental conditions might also affect their judgment while on the road.  Parkinson’s disease, for instance, causes trembling in the hands, arms, legs and jaw, rigidity and postural instability.

Teens would rebel against their own shadow if they had the chance to, but sooner or later they realize it’s themselves they are trampling on.  Car accidents are the number one cause of death in teenagers.  The usual mistakes are: speeding, not wearing a seatbelt, disrespecting school zones, drowsy driving and being distracted by cells, music and chatting with friends.  As much as 20% of accidents with teens come from distracted driving, particularly texting while driving.
Irresponsible drivers come in all shapes and colors.  Too young or too old, it doesn’t matter as long as you respect the rules of the road.  Drive safely in Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Gainesville, Ocala, Orlando, Tampa, Clearwater, Fort Myers, Naples, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale or Miami
