On Saturday, March 8, 2014, the city of North Miami is teaming up with North Miami Parks & Recreation Department and the North Miami Police Department.

ऀThe city of North Miami is working tirelessly to end the trend of obesity. They have organized a Get in Gear Community Bike Ride event to promote a healthy lifestyle. On Saturday, March 8, 2014, the city of North Miami is teaming up with North Miami Parks & Recreation Department and the North Miami Police Department.

ऀIn Florida, around 25% of adults are obese. The Get in Gear: Community Bike Ride’s mission is to advocate for wellness and encourage healthier lifestyles by promoting exercise and a more nutritional diet. The event, which will begin and end at MOCA Plaza at 770 NEW 125 Street in North Miami, will be starting at 8:00 am. At 8:30 am, the bike ride will be taking off and riding about 6 miles through North Miami. A police escort will be following to ensure safety and periodic stops will be made to hydrate and use a restroom. Participants must fill out a registration form that you can find at (http://www.northmiamifl.gov/celebrate/) and bring their own bike. Riders that are 16 and under must wear a helmet.
