Orange County comes in at number 4 on the list of Florida counties with the highest number of accidents. In 2020, there were a total of 23,268 accidents in the county. Hillsborough County

At number three on the list, we have Hillsborough County. The county is home to 1,478,194 people, with Tampa being the biggest city in the county. According to usafacts.org, Hillsborough County is growing at a rapid rate, increasing in population by 19.8% over the last decade. In 2020, there were a total of 24,168 crashes in the county over the course of the year. The three year average for the county was slightly higher at 27,453.

Broward County

The county with the second highest number of accidents per year is Broward County. Located just north of Miami-Dade, the county’s biggest population center is the city of Fort Lauderdale. In 2020, there were a total of 34,050 accidents that occurred in the county. Of those accidents, there were 18,984 injuries, meaning that at least one person was injured in over 50% of accidents.

Miami-Dade County

Coming in at number one on the list of Florida counties with the highest number of car accidents is Miami-Dade County. This county is famous for its warm weather, sunny beaches, and its biggest city, Miami. In 2020, Miami-Dade County had by far the highest number of accidents at  a total of 51,543. This shouldn’t be too surprising, as Miami-Dade is also the county with the highest population in the state at 2,662,777 residents.
