These Are the Cities with the Highest Accident Rates in Florida

While the number of cars on the road decreased slightly during the pandemic, we have reached a point where driving levels are mostly back to normal. We all try to drive as safely as possible, but sometimes accidents are unavoidable. It’s always important to stay focused and alert while on the road so that you can see if someone else is driving unsafely. If you’re going to be out on the road this summer, it’s important to know which areas might be more accident-prone so you can exercise extra caution. Here are the cities in Florida that have the highest incidents of car crashes and accidents.

Pompano Beach

Coming in at number one, Pompano Beach is the car crash capital of Florida. Located just north of Fort Lauderdale, this city is known for its beaches, marinas, coral reef, and (unfortunately) a high number of car crashes.

Miami

The Magic City comes in second place in the ranking of Florida cities with the highest accident rates. This should not come as much of a surprise, as Miami is one of the most highly populated areas of Florida. The more drivers there are on the road, the more likely accidents will be. Try to avoid rush hour traffic if you want a safer driving experience in Miami.

Davie

The comparatively smaller town of Davie makes it onto our list in third place. Davie is significantly smaller than most of the other cities on this list, such as Miami, Tampa, and Fort Lauderdale. However, Davie is in the South Florida area, not far from the other bigger cities on this list. Even outside of the major population centers, it’s important to practice safe driving habits.

Tampa

The first city on the list from the west coast of Florida is Tampa, coming in at number four. A major business center for the state of Florida, it has a high population which leads to more frequent accidents. There are tons of activities to experience in Tampa, from the Busch Gardens theme park to the thriving nightlife scene. If you’re making a trip to this city, make sure to watch out for unsafe drivers.

Fort Lauderdale

Rounding out our list at number five is Fort Lauderdale, a mid-sized city just north of Miami. Similar to Miami and Tampa, Fort Lauderdale has a large population which comes with higher rates of traffic and car accidents. While the city has beautiful beaches and restaurants that are worth visiting, don’t forget to drive cautiously to avoid accidents.

With so many great cities in Florida to visit this summer, it’s hard to resist planning a road trip to any of the cities on this list.
