Tips on Getting Rid of Foggy Windows
Don’t you hate it when you get to your car in the morning and see moisture on your windows? It’s more of a hassle when it feels like forever to get rid of them while you’re driving. So why does this happen and how do you get rid of the fog?
The reason why you may end up with foggy windows is that the temperature from your car and the temperature from the environment are complete opposites. When it’s too hot outside, you’re probably set your car to cool. If it’s too cold outside, you probably have the heater on. When the car moisture turns into condensation and meets the outside temperature it can reach the dew point—which is one of the factors why your windows fog up.
Here are a few tips to get rid of the fog:
- In hot weather, use your windshield wipers in the lowest setting and have them run until it’s all gone.
- Set your car temperature to match the temperature from outside. This will lessen the condensation that is circulating inside the car.
- Turn off the recirculation button so the car can battle the foggy windows, so the moisture levels begin to equalize faster.
- Open your windows for a few minutes. Again, this will let the temperature from the outside to circulate around the car to lessen moisture.
Foggy windows can be a hazard when you hit the road. Therefore, if you have time—the fastest way to get rid of them is to wipe them down before you start driving.
